About Us
Vastfontein Community Transformation (VCT) is a faith-based non-profit organisation dedicated to closing the poverty gap through education and training, youth empowerment, and land restoration.
Rooted in strong Christian values, VCT exists to uplift vulnerable communities by empowering and equipping people for a sustainable future. Using an holistic approach, we address physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, relational, economic and social needs in the community. Our heart is to see individuals equipped, communities strengthened, and future generations empowered to contribute meaningfully to South African economy.
OUR HISTORY
Vastfontein Community Transformation began in 1998 when Johan Grobler experienced a spiritual calling to serve his community. What started as a small Jesus Film outreach on his farmland grew into a church and Sunday school, followed by the establishment of a creche in 2003 to support local families. Recognising the need for formal structures, Johan founded Vastfontein Sending Projek, later renamed Vastfontein Community Transformation NPC, to provide sustainable, values-based education and community services.
Over the years, Vastfontein expanded its initiatives to include a primary school, a training centre for lay pastors, and care homes for orphaned and vulnerable children. Holistic community support became a hallmark of the organisation, with a wellness centre offering medical services, counselling, therapy, and developmental support for children and educators. Strategic growth continued with the acquisition of land for a high school, and the construction of new facilities to provide quality, Christian education from foundational to secondary levels.
Under the leadership of CEO Mathilda Fourie since 2016, Vastfontein continues to grow as a hub for youth empowerment, education, and agricultural training. Its mission remains to raise leaders, release potential, and realise dreams by providing education, life skills, and holistic support to children, youth, and the wider community, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to society and the South African economy.
